                                    Catcher in the Mind

If i could catch a memory id catch the memory of our last football game from this year. It was really special to me because it was the last time the seniors would step on and play on a football field and it was an upset victory over Garfield, it was an emotional time when we got the first touchdown and then another touchdown. But then we went into overtime when Garfield kicked a filed goal making the score 24-24. We won the coin toss and we had the first try to make a touchdown which we didn't so we had to kick a field goal which was blocked by the G-men, but the ball was still live and garfield ran off the field celebrating, We picked up the ball and ran for a touchdown which we made and then we kicked the extra point, It felt like everything was in slow motion when Owen Long was running down the field with the ball. And when Cole Bailey intercepted the ball on a G-men third down it sealed the game shut and the pirates left with a win. When the band started to play the school song everyone knew they would remember this night for the rest of their lives. The lights shined down on the helmets of the mud drenched players but we still came together as a team and stood as one. When we got back to the school we steeped onto freedom field one last time for the seniors and as we trudged through the muddy field as we linked together the freshman stopping at the 25, it felt as if the seniors would never stop walking. It felt as if they would keep walking linked together all the way into the woods and never come back, As we sunk into the mud in the endzone we formed two lines for which the seniors could run though and tackle the pad one last time. They were some of the toughest people i knew and yet when i saw them running they had tears in their eyes. This memory is important to me because they left a legacy that we are gonna have to live up to next year and they were leaders to the whole team.
